Prediction: UMass 3, BC 2

The Minutemen are currently playing their best hockey of the year and I am calling the upset against the conference leading Boston Eagles. Matt Murray is coming off a Hockey East player of the week nod and the team is on a three-game unbeaten streak. Freshmen like Mitchell Chaffee, John Leonard, Cale Makar, and Mario Ferraro have been playing great hockey for the Minutemen and I think they are up to the challenge against the Eagles. Even though Boston College leads in shots per game, the teams have an otherwise very similar look on paper, and with Matt Murray playing the way he has been, it will be difficult to get anything by him. He has been handling busy workloads all season and it won’t be an easy game for him, but if he stands tall again, I like the Minutemen’s chances for the upset.
